Music Faculty : Antonella Hayes
Born in Rome, Italy, after graduating in Violin Performance in Conservatoire G. Verdi in Milan, she attended Violin Master Classes in Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Great Britain and specialized in Early Music education and Strings Teaching Methods: Essential String Method by Sheila Nelson (Guildhall School of Music-London), Suzuki Method (London- British Suzuki Institute), Music Learning Theory by Edwin E. Gordon, Kodaly Method, J. Dalcroze Method, “Parent education in the Suzuki Method” by Jean Luedke and a “New approach to violin playing” by Kato Havas.
Since the age of seventeen she extensively played with chamber ensembles and symphony orchestras both in Italy and Europe: Angelicum, CARME, Il Collegio dei Musici, I Musici Ambrosiani, Grande Orchestra Sinfonica G. Verdi, Piccola Sinfonica di Milano, Orchestra Femminile Europea, Orchestra Mozart, Philomusica of Edinburgh, Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
She has authored ten books for violin and chamber music for children with the music publishing company CURCI - Edizioni Musicali.
In 2000 she founded in Milan “I Piccoli Musicisti”, a private music school which currently has 250 students and eight teachers involved in the project.
Since 2005 she has been invited by the Association Collegium Philarmonicum, in Naples, as conductor of the Junior and Intermediate Orchestra and as teacher in the International Summer Master Classes.
She has been examiner for state Conservatoire of Como (Italy) and has held teacher-training master classes in Fiesole (Florence). Her students have won competitions and regularly passed ABRSM examinations with high scores.
In 2008 she relocated with her family in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), where she holds a position as Strings Consultant for Allegro Music and Arts School, teaching individual and group classes, chamber music and taking part as a leader to the activities of the Allegro Strings Ensemble.
Since 2009, she is faculty in the Teacher Training Courses for Malaysia Suzuki Association (Kota Kinabalu-Sabah), teaching and taking part to workshops, music camps, previews and performances organized by the Association.
She regularly performs as soloists and chamber musician, with a repertoire which spaces from baroque to modern and includes Irish folk music and Argentinean tango.
She plays a Giuseppe Lepri violin, made in 1932 in Santarcangelo di Romagna, Italy.
